Well, I haven't written for a few weeks and so much has happened. First of all, we took Gracie if for her 18 month check up and she is doing wonderful. She had an appointment with an allergist regarding her peanut allergy. We are so lucky that we know early and can be preventing any further reactions. We have epipens all over now and hopefully will never have to use them. Because we have no history in our families it is all very new to us and we are learning all we can. Any advise would be appreciated.

I had no clue Gracie was allergic to nut- what a crappy aunt I've turned out to be... umm... I guess as far as advice goes I would just say, "don't feed her nuts". I think if you follow my advice she should be fine. ha! ha!
P.S. Nuts are hard to avoid in our family...
That stinks that she is allergic to nuts. BUT so great you found out early!!!! Just make sure all the nursery leaders are WELL aware of her allergy. I know it sounds silly, but remind FAMILY alot. Because it is so easy to forget to check an ingredient label or just not thinking give a piece of candy w/nuts. ALSO, there are some people who don't understand that PEANUT BUTTER falls under the "do not feed" category. I have actually seen people try to give kids with nut allergies Receces Peanut Butter Cups or peanut butter cookies. I guess they think because it's in a butter form it safe?
Gracie is so lucky to have her older siblings to watch out for her and make sure she won't eat anything she isn't supposed to.
**Sorry about the long post, I had no idea I was so opinionated about nut allergies :)
I have a friend with a son who is allergic to peanuts. She gives everyone who works with her son "approved treats" lists. We often end up "treating" all of the children with a brand-name snack because she knows the exact ingredients in it. On another note - I love your blog! Thanks for sharing!
