Well, our somewhat outdated 5.0 mp Kodak Easy ShareDX4530 is now about 4 years old. It goes through batteries like nothing and is really unreliable. So with our upcoming trip to Ethiopia we are hoping to buy an upgrade. Our neighbor recommended the Kodak Z712 but we really don't know much so any advice would be appreciated. I would like something small and simple, he would like more options and something nicer. I do most of the picture taking so I think I should get to decide...what do you think?

I have a Canon Powershot Pro S3 that I use the most right now. It works great. It's a bigger camera but takes fabulous pictures, especially outside. We also have a Canon Powershot that worked great for a couple of years until the kids dropped it one too many times. Arron has an Olympus Stylus camera he deploys with that is water/sand/drop proof. Good luck!

Down with Kodak!!!! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING BUT A CANON!!!!! The Powershot has a rechargable battery that lasts forever and you can buy an extra one to interchange on ebay for $5. It has a huge screen on the back and is small, but awsome and takes great pictures! There are tons of models and you can get a great deal... call me and we'll chat. I have been doing a lot of research on cameras lately because I am going to buy an SLR... cal me sis...
p.s. I even dropped mine at the beach last year (remember?) and got sand all up inside and it still takes great pictures. love canon. l-o-v-e.
You need his and her cameras. A nice point and shoot for her to get the kids in action and something more complex and feature laden for him. As was stated before Canon is great, they always get great review. I personally like the Olympus Stylus series of cameras. I got Kinsey on for her birthday and I think she has been a big fan of it. It also is simple, but has additional features that can be used if you want to get into it.
I like Cannon~Best bang for your buck and its sturdy. You can tell by handleing it that it is well made. great picutes too. Love it, I had Kodak before and won't be going back. Hope this helps!
